Fiesta at Oxford

I have always had a soft spot for mexican food. What is it about Mexican Food that I love? Is it because I used to work at some sort of mexican restaurant? Is it because every serving of meals is served with big dollop of sour cream? Or Is it because all the dips has strong and unique taste that I love? I don't know, the only thing I know is I love Mexican Food!

So, on Monday, after tiring sessions of Body Pump and Attack, Cok and I went to Fiesta at Oxford in Bondi Junction. Decorated by different hanging pinata, sombrero and mexican music, is a crowded room. We were seated in the table near the cake display by the what looks like a Brazilian waiter.

Pinata - $40 each

Cake display - cheesecake, tiramisu and churros

We ordered the famous Beef Nachos. Large Size, with jalapenos. We also ordered the combo of beef chimichanga (some sort of deep burito) and chicken taco. Soon the order came. We were excited.

Large beef nachoes, with Jalapenos - $ 23

The nachos was made by using square corn chip. This is the first time I ever had square corn chip. I have eaten the triangle and the round one, but not the square one. Smothered with the con carne and melted cheese, was spread of jalapeno, and big dollop of both sour cream and guacamole. It was quite big in portion! However, as we looked through the nearby table, we saw one guy who gets bigger nachos than us. Is it because we are girls that they just assume that we don't finish our meal? It taste really good however!

Beef Chimichanga and Chicken Taco Combo - $26

The combo was served with a hint of salad, probably to make us feel less bloated, bean and rice, and sour cream and guacamole. The chimicanga was crispy and it tasted so good. I could taste the juicy chunk of beef in my mouth, mixed with the mexican spices and melted cheese. Heaven! The chicken taco was okay. The chicken doesn't really capture the essence of the spices.

After finishing our meal, we were BLOATED. Too much cheese and sour cream that we can handle for one meal. We were glad that our nachos came the size it was. We would've finished it if it was bigger, but my stomach will probably hurt too!

Overall, Fiesta at Oxford provide a nice meal, and excellent service. If you are someone who are looking for a quiet restaurant where you can talk to your meal companion in peace, this might not be the place, but if you are just looking for a good Mexican food, come to Fiesta!!
